As part of a $75,000 grant from the John T. and Jane A. Wiederhold Foundation, a supporting organization of the Northwest CT Community Foundation, Berkshire Humane Society will hold a free rabies vaccine and microchip clinic for dogs and cats on Saturday, June 14th from 8:30 am to 10:00 am at the Dr. John Reynolds Adoption and Education Center at 214 Barker Road in Pittsfield. Dog licenses will also be available for purchase by Pittsfield residents.

Pet owners should use the lower entrance of the shelter at the Stephanie Beling Family Dog School Training Center to access the clinic. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in carriers. Please bring previous proof of rabies vaccination, even if it has expired. For microchips, downloading a form at https://berkshirehumane.org/document/microchip-registration-form/ will expedite the process. Free pet food from Berkshire Humane Society’s Pet Food Bank will also be available. The clinic is open to all; you need not live in Pittsfield, but you must be a resident of Pittsfield to buy a dog license. License fees are $20.00 for intact (not spayed or neutered) dogs and $10.00 for spayed or neutered dogs. Please bring proof of spay for female dogs.

“Our offsite free clinic in Adams was such a huge success, we want to offer one here in Pittsfield,” said John Perreault, Executive Director of Berkshire Humane Society. “In Adams we vaccinated 90 animals and microchipped 89. We also signed up 19 animals for low-cost spay and neuter services,” he said. “Thanks to these clinics, pet owners who struggle can stretch their dollars to care for their pets and themselves. Our goal is to prevent the need to surrender an animal to the shelter – to keep animals in their homes where they belong.”
“We’re grateful to the Wiederhold Foundation for their generosity so we can offer these services for free to those who need it. Clearly, our Adams clinic proved the need is great” Perreault concluded.
