No longer wild about your fur? Give it back to the wild babies during Berkshire Humane Society’s first-ever Fur Reclamation Drive. Fur garments will be dismantled and distributed to local wildlife rehabilitators to cuddle injured cubs and line the nests of orphaned youngsters. Rather than languishing at the back of your closet or taking up space in storage, your furs can help nurture and heal infant raccoons, rabbits, foxes, fawns, and coyotes, among other baby animals that live in the Berkshires and beyond. Donations of gently-used fur will be accepted during the month of March 2018 at the main shelter in Pittsfield (214 Barker Rd.), Purradise (301 Stockbridge Rd.) and Catwalk Boutique (325 Stockbridge Rd.) in Great Barrington, and Bark’n’Cat (28 Holden St.) in North Adams.
We welcome any and all fur coats, hats, gloves, stoles, and other fur items, or partial fur items. No mothball affected or recently dry-cleaned furs can be accepted due to chemical usage.
Important tax information: If donors wish to claim a deduction for their donation, we encourage them to consult IRS.gov and their tax specialist. Donated items should be appraised prior to drop-off, and any required tax forms, such as Form 8283, MUST BE completed in advance and presented at the time of donation. For questions, call Lizzy Brown at (413) 447 -7878 ext. 129 or email email@example.com.
