This is the web site for Berkshire Humane Society, Inc. ("BHS") BHS has
created this Privacy Policy to demonstrate our firm commitment to Internet
privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination
practices for this web site and for our off-line activities.
BHS reserves the right to modify any information contained
on this site at any time without notice, including this Privacy Policy. This site and all information and
materials on it are provided to you "as is" without warranty of
any kind.
Normal Web Site Usage
You can visit the BHS web site without
telling us who you are and without revealing any personal information. The
only information we collect from a normal web site visit is the name of
your Internet service provider, the browser and type of machine you are
using, the web site that referred you to us, the pages you request, and
the date and time of those requests.
We use this information to generate statistics and measure site activity
to improve the usefulness of the site to our visitors. During a normal
web site visit, we do not collect or store personally identifiable information
such as name, mailing address, email address, phone number, or social
security of the visitor.
We collect the IP addresses of visitors, time of access, browser type,
and entry and exit pages. We collect some information on an aggregate basis.
For example, we track which pages are most popular among visitors
as a whole. This information is used for internal review only and not
shared with third parties. We do
not collect any other information without the visitors knowledge
and permission.
On-line Collection of Personally Identifiable Information
Currently, BHS does not collect any personally identifiable information via our web site.
Users who choose to click our "Donate Now" button are taken to a partner site, operated by Groundspring.org, where they
can choose to make a credit card donation. Data entered on Groundspring.org forms is covered by Groundspring.org's
Privacy Policy, which can be reviewed here.
Off-line Collection of Personally Identifiable Information
BHS collects personally identifiable information from our customers, donors, and participants in our programs
via a variety of off-line forms. For instance, forms containing personally identifiable information might
be filled out if you:

Want to adopt an animal from us.

Make a donation to us.

Make a credit card purchase at our retail store.

Choose to participate in one of our many events/programs, including (but not limited to): The Bark
in the Park, The Humane Race, Family Dog School, Foster Care, Kids Summer Program, and others.

Want to interact with us in other ways normal to conducting everyday business and shelter operations.
In all cases, information collected from you off-line is managed and stored in a manner consistent with
accepted business practices in the United States. We make every effort to ensure that your information is
secure and is seen only by those employees and/or volunteers who require access to provide services to you.
Selling and Trading Personally Identifiable Information
BHS does not and will not sell or trade any personally identifiable information that you provide
to us.
Opting Out
Persons who join the BHS as members or who donate will receive newsletters and other limited
communications from BHS from time to time. You may choose to receive these communications
via U.S. Postal Service, via E-mail, or not at all.
