September 4, 2012 Pittsfield, MA …The Berkshire Humane Society’s annual dog walk event “Woofstock” is scheduled for Sunday, September 16th at Burbank Park in Pittsfield. This popular family event brings dogs and their owners together for a day of fun, food and fund-raising for the homeless animals at the Berkshire Humane Society. Everyone is welcome to attend, with or without dogs. Once again the event begins with a pancake breakfast from 8 am until 11 am; cost is $5 per person, Starbucks coffee will be available. Registration for the 1.5 mile dog walk begins at 10 am with the walk along the picturesque shores of Onota Lake starting at 11am. There will be a Blessing of the Animals before the walk begins and a special Parade Marshall will be honored at the start of the walk too.
Woodstock’s activities will also include a Kidgility Contest, Best Dog Trick, Best Costume and Best Musical Sits & Downs Contests. There will be a Bouncy House for children, food vendors, and a variety of merchandise from outside vendors to purchase throughout the event. A spectacular selective raffle contest will also be available to help the Berkshire Humane Society’s many homeless animals and programs at the shelter.
Special prizes will be awarded this year too, the child who raises the most money over $700, will receive a Wii entertainment system and the team that raises the most money in pledges will receive a catered lunch from Samel’s Deli for up to 10 people. Pledge forms are available at the shelter on Barker Road in Pittsfield and at Purradise in Gt. Barrington. Pledge forms can also be found online at www.berkshirehumane.org.
Participants can also create their own on-line Fundraising Page with greatergiving, just follow the link on the Woofstock page to create your team or personal fundraising page.
