October is Adopt a Shelter Dog at BHS

October 3, 2012 Pittsfield, MA… The Berkshire Humane Society has some new promotions for October to help celebrate National Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month.  Not only will every dog who is adopted during October be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a basket of Treats & Toys selected especially for the winning dog, but each new dog adopter will be able to choose from a basket of specially stuffed tennis balls to see if they may win a free adoption.  Other prizes include $50, $25, $15 and $10 off coupons for the dog adoption.  Each dog adopted during October will also receive a free Pet I.D. Tag to go home with their new pet.

Kennel Supervisor, Roberta Townsend, says, “We have a really great variety of dogs right now at Berkshire Humane.  They are different ages, personalities and breeds to choose from.” She added, “A dog can add much to a person or family’s life; a warm body next to you on the sofa, a jogging buddy on cool mornings, and an adoring face to greet you after a hard day at work or a dog can be a constant companion through the good times and the bad.  Roberta and the rest of the canine staff will gladly help potential adopters to find the best match for their family.  They suggest starting at the website, www.berkshirehumane.org, to get an idea of what dogs are available or to call the shelter directly, at 413-447-7878 ext. 26 to ask for current updates.

For anyone who already has a dog; consider adding another one to your family. Or donate to help other dogs get the loving care and homes they need so much.

The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday 10am -4pm, Sunday 1pm – 4pm and Thursday evenings an additional 5-8pm.  Fees for adopting a dog start at $150, this includes, spaying or neutering, micro-chipping, and vaccinations.
