Dear BHS,

July 31st 2008 marked the 5 year anniversary of adopting Annie (then Sammy) my chocolate lab from your shelter. Adopting Annie was one of the best things I have ever done and I smile every day when I look at her.
She has taught me so much about dog training and brought me into the world of dog agility where we happily compete (Annie even has a 4th place ribbon displayed proudly on her crate). She has matured from a wild young willful lab to a loving, mellow companion (while still holding on to her stubborn side!).
We have been living in Austin, TX for the past 2 ½ years and while Annie doesn’t always love the hot Texas summers we spend a lot of time swimming to stay cool—we even go kayaking together! Annie and I have traveled all across the country together, and had too many adventures to list here!
So thank you BHS for all the wonderful work you do placing dogs into homes. I have been volunteering at the Austin Humane Society for the past 6 months in order to pay back for the wonderful friend I was lucky enough to adopt from your shelter. If we ever make our way back up to the Berkshires we will be sure to stop by and visit. Attached is a picture of Annie doing one of her favorite things, napping in the sun. I hope I am lucky enough to have 5 more years with her. Thanks again to your shelter and all the hard working staff and volunteers, the work you do is worth it!
